When she was married to Prince Charles, Princess Diana wore a number of gadgets from the royal jewelry assortment for essential state events. And on one such event in Australia in 1985, Diana was notably progressive in how she wore an emerald jewel.
The Delhi Durbar Emerald Choker was believed to have been gifted to Diana by the Queen to mark her marriage to Prince Charles in 1981.
The Art Deco piece beforehand belonged to the Queen’s grandmother, Queen Mary, and it’s a redesigned model of a jewel Mary obtained in the course of the Delhi Durbar in 1911.
Instead of carrying it round her neck as meant, Diana opted to put on the bejewelled piece as a scarf throughout her high-profile outing in 1985.
While preparing for the occasion, Diana reportedly tried to get it on usually to put on as a choker.

But when it grew to become caught round her head, she opted to put on it as a headpiece as a substitute.
